MADELINE BOWLING, MM

Studio Owner and Teacher

Madeline Bowling started violin lessons at age 6, and music has played an integral part of her life ever since. She began studying with Laura Andrews from age 7 until entering college, during which she was homeschooled and had the opportunity to play five years with the Columbus Symphony, a local community orchestra. After graduating from high school, Madeline secured a position as a student apprentice with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic for two years.

During her four years of Bachelor’s studies at the University of Indianapolis, Madeline received lessons from Austin Hartman and Joana Genova. Madeline graduated from University of Indianapolis in 2019 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance. At UIndy she held the position of concertmaster in the chamber orchestra during her senior year. She participated as a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon Professional Musician’s Fraternity chapter on campus, receiving two scholarships.

Madeline graduated in 2021 with her Master's degree in Music Performance from Butler University, where she studied under Larry Shapiro and Richard Clark, held a graduate assistantship for both years, participated in the pit orchestra for the Butler Ballet, and won the position of concertmaster in the Butler Symphony for a semester. She returns to Butler regularly to teach at the university's summer strings camps as well as to perform in the ballets.

Madeline currently plays professionally with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and performs gigs around the central Indiana area. She taught violin with Gain Music Academy in Avon, Indiana for almost five years, and is now in the process of realizing her dream of creating her own studio, Envision Music Studio, in Seymour, IN. Her primary passion is violin pedagogy, claiming orchestral playing as a close second musical love.
