VIOLIN
Violin is the soprano voice of the stringed instrument family! It is smaller than the viola, and in orchestra it usually plays the melody and accompanying parts soaring to the highest notes in the repertoire.

VIOLA
Viola is the alto voice of the stringed instrument family! It is slightly larger than the violin, and its role in the orchestra is usually one of harmony and supporting of the melody. This instrument is loved for its rich, deeper tones in the lower register.
Though these two instruments look similar and are both played with a bow, they are different sizes, have different sounds, and play different roles in the orchestra
